David Lloyd speaks at Axicom-Maxwell Winward UK energy reforms panel session

During 2011 the UK government intends to announce widespread reforms to the electricity industry. The reforms aim at:

  • Securing supply – sufficient generating capacity, diversity of fuels and fuel sources.
  • Achieving carbon reduction – decarbonising the electricity system in conjunction with similar action for transport and heating.
  • Ensuring affordability – minimising cost increases to consumers (NB. An estimated £110bn to be spent on generation, transmission and distribution assets this decade).

AxiCom - a global technology PR agency - and Maxwell Winward - a London-based, law firm - brought together leading lights from the  industry to discuss the implications of these reforms for the market.
In speaking on the panel, David Lloyd, Managing Director at XMS Capital Limited, made wide-ranging points covering energy policy strategy, the deliverability of these reforms and the financing of the UK conventional and renewable energy industry.
